TIMBER FRAMES – TRADITIONAL OAK JOINERY
Wood is one of the most beautiful construction materials we know, and if it’s sourced properly then it’s also sustainable.
Traditional timber frames are usually made from oak. They last many centuries and have a stunning visual impact. We make and maintain traditional oak frames and also oak doors and windows in traditional designs.
We also use oak, sweet chestnut and other timber to make roundpole frames. Roundpole frames use the whole timber section, rather than a square section cut out of it. Because the grain is not compromised at any point, roundpoles are significantly stronger than the equivalent square section of timber. Roundpole frames also take advantage of the beautiful natural forms of trees. There is nothing more attractive than a roof held up by the carefully peeled branches and trunks of a strong, solid tree.
