Toilet and Shower Block

An octagonal toilet and shower block built for an eco-campsite in Hasketon, Suffolk.

The waste from the toilet and shower goes to a reed bed sewage system.

The building is an oak frame, infilled with wattle and daub, and finished with lime render and plaster. The roof is made of cleft oak shingles. The doors, floor and partitions are all solid oak. The waterproof surface in the showers is a polished clay plaster coated with a “hard oil” containing pine resin and tung oil. The building sits on limecrete foundations.
